A mindfulness intervention promoting work–life balance: How segmentation preference affects changes in detachment, well?being, and work–life balance

This study evaluates a three-week online self-training intervention teaching mindfulness as cognitive–emotional segmentation strategy. Daily effects on psychological detachment, affective well-being, and strain-based work–family conflict, satisfaction with work–life balance were assessed, particular focus whether preferences moderate training responsiveness. A randomized wait-list control group design was used for administering daily questionnaires to 190 participants. Psychological interface measures assessed daily. As expected, growth curve analyses revealed positive satisfaction. No found conflict. Additionally, moderated the effect such that participants low preference reported stronger effects. Unexpectedly, well-being increased in both groups. Practitioner points Practicing strategy enables detachment from work. Mindfulness reduces conflict enhances satisfaction, irrespective of or integration. increases work most successfully integrators. Organizational practices policies are advised include brief interventions programmes.
